About the Role

Job Overview

As an Electronic Design Engineer, your primary responsibility is to ensure that all electronic designs developed by the company meet the highest standards of quality, functionality, and reliability. You play a critical role in the hardware development process by identifying the requirements and resolving defects, verifying functionality, and maintaining an overall focus on improving the user experience.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Planning and Strategy: To plan and strategise the design of an electronic product taking into consideration the form, functionality, reliability manufacturability, and safety of the product.

2. Design and Development: To design and develop electronic assemblies with consideration for different requirements including function, performance, costing, and compliance.

3. Prototyping: To rapidly design and build electronic prototypes for the purpose of proof of concept or design validation.

4. Production Preparation: To prepare all necessary materials and procedures to allow for a smooth transition from design to production of an electronic assembly. This includes documents such as BOM list, production requirements, and testing requirements.

5. Design Management: To follow and further establish best practices and standards when it comes to design management such as good maintenance of design libraries and design versioning.

6. Defect Management: To perform hardware troubleshooting to identify the root cause of a malfunctioned circuit board.

7. Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify areas for improvement in terms of component selection, electronic technology as well as manufacturing processes to provide an edge for the company’s product in a competitive market landscape.

8. Vendor Management: To work closely with vendors and subcontractors to establish new projects or troubleshooting issues on existing projects to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.


1. A Diploma or a Degree holder in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.

2. 3-5 years working experience in Electronic Engineering roles is required.

3. Has good understanding and exposure to a vast range of electronic components and ICs. Able to evaluate the decide on the appropriateness of component selection.

4. Able to perform schematic design for both Analogue and Digital circuits. Ability to design circuits to comply with EMI and EMC requirements is an added advantage.

5. Able to perform schematic design and PCB layout for up to 6 layers using EDA software such as Eagle or Kicad.

6. Comfortable using numerous test and measurement equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Logic Analysers and Multimeters for troubleshooting and investigative works.

7. Ability or experience to perform coding in C, C++ or C# is an added advantage.

8. Well verse with the ins and outs of electronic fabrication and testing. Having existing networks with numerous vendors and test labs is an added advantage.
